A weeks worth of updates

Monday, October 13, 2008

I continue to slack w/my blog. I need to start keeping up with it. With that said... here is an update of last week's shenanigans!!!

October 3-5,2008: This weekend we went to Buffalo, TX to enjoy a weekend of great outdoors! We were invited to Carlos' friend's (Elihu) ranch for some last minute fun before his wedding day/deployment to Iraq (for like the 80th time..goodness) Actually, 2 years ago Carlos invited me out to his friend's ranch and we had been dating, 6mths... Now look at us, almost 3 years!!! Not to mention, that is also the weekend I met Marcel & Leslie for the first time. So should I say... Happy 2yr friendship anniversary?..lol

October 7th,2008:My 2 year 11mth anniversary. I can't believe we've made it this far. Of course, like every couple we have our downs but I'm thankful, we've had more UPs than downs. I just hope we continue to have many more great years... Happy Anniversary my pig! Love ya! :0 )

October 8th,2008: HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!! I turned a total of 27 years old! WOW.... I remember turning 21 and thinking, " It's great to be an adult" how I wish I could take that thought back!..lol I will say, I thank God for allowing me another year so I'm not going to b*tch about turning 27! I just hope he continues to bless me with many more!

So my mom couldn't wait to eat the cake so she cut it before I got home..lol

Well, this is charm #35 on my bracelet... probably on my top 10 favorite now :)

Celebrating my birthday with my favorite boy! Gosh, I love them some much!

And look what my Pig got me! Do I look surprised?..lol

Here I am, posing w/my new cricut machine! I love it!

So you ask, what all did you do for your birthday? Well, it fell on Wednesday this year so it was hard to do anything on my actual birthday, BUT...

- Carlos' parents took me out for dinner to Black Eye Pea, I got a $150.00 visa gift card (which by the way is very complicated to use so don't ever buy one, oh and the fees for activating the card are great as well!..NOT!) and Sarah(carlos' sis) got me my FAVORITE all time perfume "MIAMI GLO BY JLO" (discontinued item and hard to find but Sarah found it!!!)

- My family took me to Johnny Carinos for dinner, aunt Lily got me a shirt that read " S.A.P (short and proud)..lol, and my aunt Dalila got me a 50 dollar visa gift card which I spent at Hobby Lobby the next day!.. and of course Maribel and Marvin treated me for dinner :)

- My mom and sis hooked me up as well. My sis got me 2 harajuku girl bags & a harajuku makeup bag. My mom got me a James Avery ring and bracelet..how cool is that?

- My friend Van got me the most awesome items as well... a crystal star,crystal butterfly and an awesome butterfly friend frame...thank u!

- And something very special to me that I got in the mail is an awesome memory book from my sister from another mother! It was the most awesome crafted memory picture book I've ever recvd. Thank u so much to one of the best friends in the world...Amy!

- Save the best for last!!! Carlos ( my wonderful,terrific,handsome boyfriend) got me the CRICUT! I can't wait to use it, I have been wanting this machine for a LOOONNG time! Check it out http://www.cricut.com/! In addition to getting me this very expensive machine, he also gave me a James Avery charm,(#35 on my charm bracelet) a night at the Mad Potter and Renaissance Festival! I can only imagine the dent this weekend did to his wallet! Thank you my pig for an AWESOME weekend!!

October 10-11,2008: Friday night was the big event. We (marcel,les,carlos and I) planned a nice sit down dinner but of course because we were running late we made it a "taco stand" night. It sounds ghetto but the food is sooooo good, it was worth starting the night this way. After we finished eating, in a parked car in front of the taco stand, we headed over to the Mad Potter!!! Marcel forgot his license so he was driving like grandpa's goodies until we got into downtown. He started to run red lights, running over people and dogs! (not literally but almost!) Yes, we were lost for like 45 minutes but we finally made it to the Mad Potter and boy were we like kids at a candy store!!! Although the guys pretended painting ceramics wasn't fun, they seem to have the best ceramic there! It turned out to be a great night even though we got lost!

The next day (Saturday) we woke up super early and headed out to the Renaissance festival for some turkey eating, face painting fun! It was a very nice turn out!

October 12,2008: I'm sure from my blog you can tell I LOVE crafting so this Sunday, Leslie and I went to our first scrapbooking expo in Conroe,Tx! Boy were we in heaven! We couldn't get past the first booth! There was sooo much to see and so much to do we weren't sure where to start. I just got into stamping so I was going stamp crazy and watched all sorts of demonstrations! We had so much fun but it was even more fun watching all the older retired women in this place buying loads of things! Yep,you guessed it, Leslie and I were the only young people there but we got some great tips! I bought some really great items! Very useful!!!

What a great weekend!!!

I'm still working on my collection!! We all know that advertising is the key to selling your product;I made a koozie for my mom to take to her hair salon so that the other girls can see and want one as well!!!

If my mom knew I used those orange scissors to represent a hairdresser's pair of scissors....SHE'D KILL ME! I'm totally misrepresenting them!!!..lol

Koozie Galore!

I've been trying to come up with new ideas for Koozies. I have one friend who has put in 2 request and I'm working on those right now. Being that she's really into the whole "Red & Black" thing I tried one of my own to see what those colors look like together. (* Note to future buyer/blogger: these are all rough drafts...things I'm trying just to see what I should and shouldn't do for the final project)

This is the left side of the Koozie...

And this is the right side.... see the little bell?

Bad Kitty...grrrrr!

Corner of realization: I've come to realize I'm more creative than I bargain for. In the past, I've made several "artsy" things which I never thought anyone would find creative. I've had friends and family tell me that I should really think about selling my items but of course I just think they're being bias. I haven't taken pictures of all the items I've made in the past but I will start to upload those pictures soon. However, I do want to share a picture of an item I made a while back.

I am a HUGE fan of Frida Kahlo. In my old apartment, my theme was "Art." Everything in my living room I made. (except the obvious...couch, TV stand and chairs) The picture you see here is one of 3 mirrors that hung on my wall. I wanted something different to hang on the wall and this is what I came up with....

I know this isn't a really good picture, you can't see all the detail. However, I found all the pictures on this frame from a book of Frida's paintings.
This picture frame I made for Valentine's Day. This was more free hand doodling but it still ended up looking some what cute.
More pictures to come soon...

As promised, I am posting pics of my latest project. Amy loved the coozies I made for the party bags and asked if I could make her one. So Monday I went to Hobby Lobby and bought all the material needed. As I started to create her coozie, I realized I'd be mailing the coozie w/no greeting or note. I decided to get creative and make Amy a greeting card.I probably could have done a lot better w/the greeting card but this was the result of it....

This is the greeting card I'm mailing Amy!
This is the side view of the greeting card. I'm not sure what to put inside so
I will mail it off once I have it figured out..lol

I tried using different colors for Amy's coozie but Hobby Lobby has limited colors and they are dull looking... So I went w/purple and pink again!

Tadahhhhh... I put the card and coozie together and attempted to match the coozie w/the greeting card. I'm not sure how good of a job I did but I guess I'll know once Amy gets it!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hope you like it Ames!!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm trying to get better at posting blogs. I was suppose to post this back in July but I didn't and I'm finally getting around to it now.
For Carlos' b-day I made our guest goodie bags. Inside the bags I put a bottle of their favorite liquor, cigar, coozie and some candy! I got pretty crafty w/the coozies. I really couldn't get too creative w/the guys but for the females I got a little more "Divaish"!
Here are some samples of what I created..... What do ya'll think?
This is Trina's coozie (don't mind the bag of chips in the background..lol)
Of course this is mine... I love pink and lime green!
